The Decorative Arts Collection of The Late J.O. Fairfax sold for over $1.74 million (165% by value) in a thrilling two day auction in Sydney, attracting unprecedented interest from local and overseas bidders.

Featuring superb Asian works of art and textiles, fine European furniture, porcelain, silver and photography, the collection reflected the distinguished taste of the late James Fairfax.

An executor of The James Fairfax Estate said, ‘We are absolutely delighted with the results achieved over the past few days. James Fairfax was a passionate collector, but an equally passionate and committed philanthropist.’

‘It was his intention that the proceeds of these auctions benefit The James Fairfax Foundation and we could not be more pleased that the funds raised will now make such a significant contribution to the charities which were so important to Mr. Fairfax.’
