When I’m conducting appraisals, many of my clients mention that they have a lot of jewellery which they no longer wear. It worries them that it’s sitting in a drawer, with no one to appreciate it. I often hear people say that the younger members of their family have very different taste and aren’t interested in the items of jewellery which they’d like to give them. However, it’s important to remember that just because no one in your immediate family is interested in something, it doesn’t mean that people no longer wear that sort of thing.
Fortunately, despite intergenerational changes in taste, there are still many people who actively buy, wear and collect jewellery of many different styles and periods. It’s also fortunate that Leonard Joel can accommodate a very broad range of items in its sales, whether it’s an impressive historical piece, something of a more modern design or a quirky vintage brooch.
Every time we have a viewing in Sydney, I’m always pleased to see how many people come in and try on the large selection of jewellery and watches on offer.
