Luxury Icons: Specialist’s Picks

Unique to the Australian market, Luxury Icons presents a boutique online offering of handbags from the world’s most renowned luxury houses, offered exclusively through Leonard Joel. The collection presents runway, special order, new, and vintage pieces fresh from the European market, not readily available in Australia. The collection has been personally curated by John D’Agata, our Head of Luxury, and below, he takes us through some of his personal favourites…

Luxury Icons. Louis Vuitton. Leonard Joel Auctions
Louis Vuitton, Limited Edition “Virgil Abloh’ Airplane Bag, Fall / Winter 2021
$70,000-80,000

I always love it when designers come up with quirky designs. This Louis Vuitton Airplane bag is one of the best to hit the market in recent years. Just in time for the reopening of international travel too! It costs a pretty penny, and will set you back a little over the price of an airline ticket, but it’s worth it.

Luxury Icons. Hermès. Leonard Joel Auctions
Hermès, Quelle Idole Handbag
$48,000-60,000

When the house of Hermès ventures into quirkiness, they do it well. I love this bag because of its use of traditional black and brown leather, whilst still maintaining the whimsy of the design. This piece was released in other colourways, however this has example is sophisticated and made, of course, in the beautiful manner of all things Hermès.

Luxury Icons. Hermès. Leonard Joel Auctions
Hermès, Limited Edition Birkin Sunrise 35 Handbag
$50,000-60,000

The masters of reinventing the wheel, Hermès has given us a wonderful variety of Birkins over the years. This ‘Sunrise’ bag is no exception; a perfect example of how a great design can be given a new lease on life. I have also chosen this Birkin because it is new and never been used – fresh off the European market and exclusively on offer through our Luxury Icons auction. For your ‘Kelly’ fix, take a look at lot 26, the 2021 Nata White Kelly, also brand new!

Luxury Icons. Chanel. Leonard Joel Auctions
Chanel, 2.55 Butterflies Shoulder Bag
$6,000-8,000

Stand out in the crowd. If you are longing for a Classic 2.55 Chanel, then this is the bag for you. Keeping up with market trends, Chanel are always updating classic designs and their imagination is endless. I bet that you will be the only person sporting this bag at your next function.

Luxury Icons. Louboutin. Leonard Joel Auctions
Louboutin, Cabata “With Love” Tote
$1,600-2,600

A favourite amongst Louboutin devotees, I chose this Cabata ‘With Love’ Tote because I love the design, and because there is so little Louboutin on the Australian market. It’s a great looking designer bag at an affordable price range. Place your bids, and go shopping in style.

Luxury Icons. Hermès. Leonard Joel Auctions
Hermès, Haut À Courroies
$14,000-18,000

Ok…for those that know me, I have talked about this bag before. The Haute à Courroies is the ultimate ‘Man Bag’. Your really can’t go wrong with this one in terms of style and sophistication, and the ‘Bleu de France’ colourway is super. This is the only Haut à Courroies offered in this auction and in my eyes, it is a good one. For Hermès lovers, you are really spoilt for choice for rare Birkins and Kellys in the auction, so don’t miss your opportunity to secure something special.
