Leonard Joel are delighted to announce the addition of Chiara Curcio to the Classic Furniture & Objects team. After joining Leonard Joel in 2011 Chiara took on the management of the Objects and Antiquarian Books auction and has been responsible for developing specialist and thematic auctions within the company, most notably the highly successful auction of the Estate of Laszlo Erdos in April 2014, which achieved an extraordinary 150% sale rate by value. Chiara brings a broad knowledge of the decorative arts, antiquarian books and associated disciplines and an affinity with vintage fashion and collectables which will be an invaluable addition to the department.

Anna Grassham for Modern Design
Exciting changes are taking place in Australia’s only dedicated Modern Design department. Following the success of Leonard Joel’s specialist Modern Design auctions in the past two years, in November the department will be re-launched under the management of Anna Grassham. At some point, nearly all Leonard Joel clients will have seen evidence of Anna’s visual merchandising talents, which have been showcased throughout the salerooms and at special off-site events in some of the most original and enticing displays to be conceived of in recent years.
Joining Leonard Joel in 2011, Anna was part of the original team behind Leonard Joel’s initial Modern Design concept auctions, but her background in movie set design has also seen her collaborate in highly original projects outside of the auction world. For two consecutive years, Anna has played a key role in the New Joneses project, as part of Buy Nothing New Week. Initially undertaken in 2013 as a model of sustainable living, the project evolved in 2014 to include the construction of a fully sustainable apartment in Melbourne’s Federation Square, furnished with vintage accessories from Leonard Joel’s auctions, selected and styled by Anna. The New Joneses project was a winner at the 2013 Earth Awards in the Creative Arts Category and the 2014 event was showcased on Channel 7 national television.

Caroline Tickner for Fine Jewellery, Insurance
Caroline has been professionally involved in both Australian and International auction houses for over fifteen years, worked in the jewellery industry for over ten years and personally been a keen jewellery collector for over twenty five years. Her association with Leonard Joel has been a long one. Caroline started in 2000 and became manager of the jewellery department from 2002-2006 and then worked on a part time basis until 2009. Recently she has taken some time off to have and look after her family. Caroline is thrilled to be returning to Leonard Joel as a consultant valuer of Fine Jewellery for Insurance and Matrimonial purposes. Caroline has been consulting to various organisations as a valuer over the past few years and looks forward to reacquainting herself with many old and new Leonard Joel clients.
