In 2017, we celebrated the rare, the beautiful and the extraordinary in a year that saw Leonard Joel entrusted with some of the most interesting and important Private Collections in Australia.

Among the many highlights were the contemporary aboriginal art collection of the great Dutch art collector Thomas Vroom, fine jewels from Melbourne institution, Kozminsky, the magnificent costumes of Opera Australia, The Decorative Arts Collection of the late James Fairfax AC which sold for $1.74 million and most recently, the 1909 Ashes Urn from The Monty Noble Collection and the antique jewellery collection of renowned jewels dealer and connoisseur, Ray Schlager.

We also celebrated some of the new and exciting collecting categories which thrive at Leonard Joel, such as Modern Design, Prints and Luxury.

We were proud to continue our support of Arts Project Australia this year and to implement our campaign and voluntary policy for the cessation of trade in ivory and rhino horn in Australia, two important projects which we will remain dedicated to in 2018.

Leonard Joel will be closed for business from Wednesday 20 December through to Monday 15 January 2018.

Our first auction of 2018 will take place on Thursday 18 January.
